EFCC Worries over the Rising Involvement of Nigerian Students in Cyber Crime

EFCC Worries over the Rising Involvement of Nigerian Students in Cyber Crime

Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it is worried over the rising involvement of Nigerian students in cybercrime, popularly called Yahoo.

EFCC Chairman, Olu Olukoyede, expressed his concern while receiving the management team of DAAR Communication PLC at the agency headquarters in Abuja.

According to him, at least seven out of every student in tertiary institutions is into crime, adding that the trend is worrisome.

He regards the trend as worrisome since the students are said to be leaders of Nigeria’s tomorrow.

He made the call on Monday while receiving a delegation from Daar Communication PLC that came on a courtesy visit to the corporate headquarters of the EFCC in Jabi, Abuja.

We are looking towards Daar Communications to enlighten our youths on the evils of cyber crimes.

It is worrisome that seven out of ten students today are involved in cyber crimes, Olukoyede said.

The EFCC Chairman called on the media to design programs that are aimed at enlightening the Nigerian youth on the evil of the crimes.

These are the youths we are preparing to be leaders of tomorrow.

The media should not relent in enlightening them on the evils of such criminal practices.

He decried the effects of youth’s involvement in internet-related crimes and described the practice as a menace and cankerworm in society.

Olukoyede called for a wider media enlightenment of the youth across the country on the effects of indulgence in internet fraud.
