Monday 10

On Monday 10 July 2023, we said that the former Zamfara Governor, Sani Yerima, said that marriage is not a barrier to education for underage girls, adding that the girl he married at the age of 14 is currently having her Master’s degree.

Yerima, who married a teenager in 2010, disclosed that the Nigerian constitution is not against child marriage, while stressing that the Child Rights Act is a law smuggled through the National Assembly but has not been domesticated by any states in Northern Nigeria.

On Tuesday 11TH July 2023, we said the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Matthew Kukah, said that Nigeria witnessed the worst phase of corruption during the last administration of Former President Muhammadu Buhari, noting that corruption did not start under Buhari, but his administration amplified it morally and financially.

Kukah also stressed that; Nigeria should not yet assume that it is a democracy, but instead assume that it is matching towards democracy, which means rebuilding Nigeria.

Wednesday 12

On Wednesday 12th July 2023, we told you that former INEC Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega, said that Nigerians have not been able to enjoy the dividends of Democracy since the return of the Civilian administration in 1999, because Nigeria has been experiencing bad leadership.

According to Jega, there has been bad leadership in Nigeria, not because there are no good leaders in the country but they are in short supply, while the Democratic institutions are weak, adding that leadership at all tiers of the Nigerian federation has not been good.

On Thursday 13th July, 2023, we said the former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, said that former Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, has what it takes to serve Nigeria, stating that Wike must serve in President Bola Tinubu’s government, also adding that Nigeria needs an average bad person.

According to Fayose, members of the G5 or Integrity Group within the PDP should be appreciated by Tinubu for the role they played in his victory at the February 25th presidential election.
