On Monday, June 12, we told you that General Ibrahim Babangida (Rtd), a former Military President, said that June 12, 1993 election was declared the freest and fairest election in Nigeria, yet politicians have ignored the beauty of credible elections, adding that the gains of June 12, election have not been exploited by political leaders.

According to Babangida, the increasing voter apathy in Nigeria’s elections is attributed to insincerity by the leaders resulting in a lack of trust by the electorate.

Shettima stated that he is ready to kneel and plead with the incoming senators to allow a Southern Christian to emerge as the next Senate President, for the survival of Nigeria.

Wednesday 14

On Wednesday, June 14, we told you that the President Bola Tinubu, signed into law a bill to establish an education bank towards providing interest-free loans to indigent Nigerians seeking higher education.

The bill sponsored by the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, was introduced in 2016 as part of measures towards addressing the funding gaps in the Nigeria’s tertiary education sub-sector.

Thursday 15:

On Thursday, June 15, we said the final report by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the International Republican Institute (IRI), in the Joint International Election Observation Mission said that the 2023 elections were marred by low voter turnout, electoral violence and logistics failures.

According to the report, while there were overall optimism generated by the enactment of the Electoral Act 2022, the elections fell short of citizens’ legitimate expectations.
