Here is the Quick Takes review for November 13 to November 16, 2023, and how our listeners contributed to the topics.
On Monday November 13, 2023, we told you that the former President Goodluck Jonathan called for a stop to the practice of off-season elections in Nigeria. He expressed concern that if the country continued with off-season elections based on the interpretation of the law, a time would come when the presidential election might become an off-cycle election.
Jonathan described off-season elections as odd and not a global best practice, urging the National Assembly to ensure the practice was blocked, adding that in the American system, everybody knows when American elections will be conducted, which he said is the standard in other countries.
And we asked what your take was on Jonathan’s submission?
93% agreed, while 7% disagreed.
On Tuesday November 14, 2023, we told you that a former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (Rtd.) called on the Federal Government to put in place a reward system for security agents in the country, adding that with a reward system in place, security personnel would show more commitment and loyalty, stating that it was needed to address insecurity as well as to move the nation forward.
According to Buratai, there should be a reward system in every institution, which he identified as a way of motivating individuals to give their best to the country and also a way of identifying committed and loyal citizens.
And we asked what your take was on Buratai’s submission?
94% agreed, while 6% disagreed.
On Wednesday November 15, 2023, we told you that Timi Frank, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, warned Nigerians not to expect free, fair, transparent, and credible elections in 2027 under the administration of President Tinubu and the ruling APC, stating that what happened in Imo and Kogi is a clear indication of the kind of elections Nigerians will witness in 2027.
According to Timi Frank, it is sad that when democracy in Nigeria is meant to be progressing, it is rather retrogressing, adding that Nigeria is now the worst country in terms of compromised election results compared to other African countries.
And we asked what your take was on Timi Frank’s submission?
42% agreed, while 58% disagreed.

Ribadu, however, said that despite the financial constraints that have affected budgetary allocations, the Federal Government will do everything within its power to ensure that there is robust and viable defense management and apparatus in the country.
And we asked what your take was on Ribadu’s submission?
64% agreed, while 36% disagreed.
