November 13:

On Monday November 13, 2023, we told you that the former President Goodluck Jonathan called for a stop to the practice of off-season elections in Nigeria. He expressed concern that if the country continued with off-season elections based on the interpretation of the law, a time would come when the presidential election might become an off-cycle election.

Jonathan described off-season elections as odd and not a global best practice, urging the National Assembly to ensure the practice was blocked, adding that in the American system, everybody knows when American elections will be conducted, which he said is the standard in other countries.

November 14:

On Tuesday November 14, 2023, we told you that a former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (Rtd.) called on the Federal Government to put in place a reward system for security agents in the country, adding that with a reward system in place, security personnel would show more commitment and loyalty, stating that it was needed to address insecurity as well as to move the nation forward.

According to Buratai, there should be a reward system in every institution, which he identified as a way of motivating individuals to give their best to the country and also a way of identifying committed and loyal citizens.

November 15:

On Wednesday November 15, 2023, we told you that Timi Frank, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, warned Nigerians not to expect free, fair, transparent, and credible elections in 2027 under the administration of President Tinubu and the ruling APC, stating that what happened in Imo and Kogi is a clear indication of the kind of elections Nigerians will witness in 2027.

According to Timi Frank, it is sad that when democracy in Nigeria is meant to be progressing, it is rather retrogressing, adding that Nigeria is now the worst country in terms of compromised election results compared to other African countries.

November 16:

On Thursday November 16, 2023, we said the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu said that the current administration inherited a bankrupt country from the past administration of Muhammadu Buhari, which he said was responsible for the budgetary constraints, adding that the revenue generated by the Bola Tinubu-led administration is being used to repay what was taken from the country.

Ribadu, however, said that despite the financial constraints that have affected budgetary allocations, the Federal Government will do everything within its power to ensure that there is robust and viable defense management and apparatus in the country.
