Peter Obi Says his Defeat in 2023 Polls is Revolution Postponed

The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has assured his supporters that his defeat in the 2023 polls, is a revolution postponed.

He appreciates the energy of Nigerian youths in the 2023 polls, assuring them that the journey to his destination has not ended.

Peter Obi who spoke at a news conference in Abuja on Monday, said despite the loss of the Labour Party in the 2023 presidential poll, it is now effective in the opposition.

He partly blamed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for his defeat, accusing it of shifting the goal post in the middle of the game during the 2023 polls.

The Labour candidate heaped most of the blame for his defeat on the Supreme Court, he accused of sacrificing justice for political expediency, in its judgement on the petitions filed against the election of President Bola Tinubu.

In the process, Obi said the apex court had transferred a moral burden from the courtroom to the society.

Obi described the Supreme Court’s judgement as contradicting the overwhelming evidence of polls rigging, identity theft, and perjury placed before it by his lawyers and those of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Labour Party was beaten to a third position in the 2023 Presidential Poll behind the APC and PDP.

I thank all Nigerians who believed in what is now only a postponed revolution and deeply appreciate the unalloyed, non-partisan moral support millions of youth and ordinary Nigerians across ethnic, religious, and geopolitical divides have continued to give to Dr. Datti Baba-Ahmed and me.

In addition, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Nigerians who have supported this mission from the onset, including the leadership and members of the Labour Party, the Obidient Movement, the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Nigerians in the Diaspora, Support Groups, and all people of goodwill who worked diligently and hoped for the realization of the beginnings of a New Nigeria in this election cycle.

We also want to express our gratitude to our legal team and our elder States-Men, whose wise counsel was immeasurable.

To them, we wish to state unequivocally that this judicial outcome – an obvious misrepresentation of substantial justice – has by no means foreclosed the realization of a new Nigeria that is Possible.
