Ogun Poultry Farmers Urged To Plant Maize to Tackle Grain Shortage in the Poultry Sector

Ogun State Government has asked poultry farmers in the state to engage in planting maize, to address the problems of grain shortage in the state’s poultry sector.

It however said that the challenges facing the poultry farmers were a national problem and not peculiar to Ogun state.

Agriculture and Food Security Commissioner, Bolu Owotomo stated this during a meeting with leaders of the state chapter of the Poultry Association of Nigeria, who paid him a courtesy visit at his office in Abeokuta.

He said the shortage of maize should encourage them to look inward, asking them to venture into other agricultural sub-sectors to maximize their output.

The commissioner promised that the state government would harness the state’s vast arable farmland to boost the food supply.
