Organised Labour Suspends Planned Strike After Fresh Talks At Presidential Villa

The organised labour has agreed to suspend their planned nationwide strike to protest the new petrol pump price, scheduled to begin tomorrow.

Leaders of both the trade union congress (TUC) and nigeria labour congress (NLC) resolved to suspend the strike after Tuesday’s negotiations with federal government’s representatives on the new petrol price in Abuja.

The labour leaders and federal government negotiators agreed to meet again on june 19 to finalize agreement on the framework for the implementation of the agreement reached at the Tuesday’s meeting.

in a communique issued at the end of monday’s negotiations, both parties agreed to review the world bank cash transfer scheme to include low income earners.

Several other issues on the demands of the labour were also address during the meeting.

Mid-way into the Monday’s  meeting, the national industrial court sitting in Abuja had issued an interim order to restrain the organized labour from going ahead with the proposed strike tomorrow.

Justice O.Anuwe said the interim injunction subsists until the determination of a motion filed by federal government.
