Abiodun Proclaims Dissolution Of Ninth Ogun Assembly On Friday

The tenure of the ninth Ogun State House of Assembly is to expire on June 10, 2023.

The ninth assembly held its first sitting on June 10, 2019, about 12 days after the inauguration of Abiodun administration.

Already, governor Dapo Abiodun has issued a proclamation for the dissolution of the assembly, with effect from June 9.

The governor forwared his proclamation order to the house last Monday.

With the proclamation, the incoming tenth house of assembly will hold its first plenary on June 13.

According to the governor, the house stands dissolved at the expiration of four years, starting from the day of the first sitting.

The governor in the proclamation to the House dated 5th June, noted that the dissolution, which was in accordance with the 1999 Constitution became effective at the expiration of a period of four years,

commencing from the first day of the first sitting of the House.

The proclamation notice states, “whereas as it is provided in subsection (1) of Section 105 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that the House of Assembly of a State shall stand dissolved at the expiration of a period of four years, commencing from the day of the first sitting of the House.
