Ohanaeze Ndigbo Said It Will Not Intervene In The Arrest Of Godwin Emefiele
Ohanaeze Ndigbo has said it will not intervene in the suspension and arrest of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.
The organization dismissed the criticism of the suspension by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, which described it as an ethnic cleansing.
Mr Emefiele was arrested by the SSS, hours after President Bola Tinubu suspended him from office.
Chima Uzor, who claimed to be Ohanaeze’s director of national interest matters, had in a statement on Saturday, alleged that the CBN governor’s arrest was part of Mr Tinubu’s “scheme of ethnic cleansing of Igbos from public office and witch-hunting.”

Ohanaeze President General, Chief Emmanuel Iwunanyanwu in a statement on Sunday asked security agencies to arrest Chima Uzor, who signed the statement of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, for impersonation.
Iwuanyanwu said the Ohanaeze Ndigbo has no intention to interfere in the investigation of Emefiele by the Department of State Service (DSS) or those of other security agencies.
He also said that the organization would not interfere in the disciplinary actions by government on government officials.
Iwuanyanwu said public officials suspended or arrested should seek redress in court.
According to him, Ohanaeze would only intervene when court declare such public officers innocent and government ignore the court verdicts.
