Ogun State Government Plans a Dignified Burial for the Late Iyalode of Yorubaland

Ogun State Government says it is preparing a befitting burial for the Late Iyalode of Yorubaland, Chief Alaba Lawson.

The Iyalode died in the early hours of Saturday in Abeokuta, after a brief illness.

Governor Dapo Abiodun announced the proposed burial plan during a condolence visit to the Lawson family in Abeokuta, on Saturday.

The Governor said that a committee has been set up for the purpose.

He said the committee would liaise with the Lawson family for the proposed befitting burial ceremony.

The son of the Late Iyalode, Akinola Lawson, receiving the governor on behalf of the Lawson family, thanked him for supporting the aspiration of their mother.

He also acknowledged the governor for looking after the welfare of her mother while she was in a hospital.

Meanwhile, a condolence register has been opened at the residence of Late Iyalode of Yorubaland.

Also, former Governor Ibikunle Amosun, has said that the Late Iyalode Alaba Lawson lived a life of courage, service and dedication to the causes she believed in.

He listed such causes, as including women emancipation, trade development, the growth of Egbaland and the overall development of the country.

Amosun who said in a statement that he received the news with sadness, described the Late Iyalode as an educationist, who stood tall, despite her humble beginning as a classroom teacher, to establish the popular Lawson group of schools.

Senator Amosun listed some of her lifetime achievements, as including the president of the Abeokuta chamber of commerce, Ogun state chamber of commerce and the first female president of the National Association Of Commerce, Industry, Mines And Agriculture (NACCIMA).

The former governor said his thought and prayers are with the children, grandchildren the Lawson and the entire Lawson and Jiboku families as they mourned the Late Iyalode.
