NGO Reports Average of 34 Deaths from Auto Crashes in Ogun Monthly

Ogun State recorded an average of 34 deaths from auto crash monthly, according to a report from a Non-government Organization (NGO).

Also, the state recorded 605 deaths from road accidents within the eighteen months between January 2022 and June 2023

Ogun State is also identified as the worst among states, in term of speed violation, followed by Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nasarawa, Jigawa, Kaduna and Niger States.

The statistics is contained in the report by green initiative, a non-governmental organization on transport safety and sustainable development.

According to the report, Ogun State was third among the top five states with high rate of road accidents during the period.

Kaduna state, according to the data, tops the five states with 938 deaths from road accidents during the period under review, and an average of 52 deaths monthly.

Federal Capital Territory was second with 938 deaths or 52 monthly, while Bauchi state came fourth with 562 deaths or 32 monthly.

The lowest auto crash deaths within the 18 month period were recorded by Bayelsa with 17 deaths, Ekiti (52), Akwa Ibom (52), Rivers (58) and 7o in Imo State.
