Ogun Rolls Out Petrol Subsidy Palliatives For Workers, Pensioners And Vulnerable

Workers and pensioners on the payroll of Ogun State government have heaved a sigh of relief, as governor Dapo Abiodun rolled out a package of palliatives to cushion the harsh effects of petrol subsidy removal.

One of the relief is the payment of n10,000 allowances for civil servants and pensioners from this month, till September in the first instance.

Also, the governor announced hazard allowances for doctors and health workers in the state public hospitals.

Public servants are also to get peculiar allowances, whose details were not made public.

Abiodun also directs each ministries, departments and agencies to work out the modalities for ensuring that 20 per cent of staff are off duty daily.

Also, food palliative is to be distributed to vulnerable families and individuals.

The Gateway Trading Company was also directed to sell items through its distribution outlets at the rate prevailing before the petrol subsidy removal.

The governor also ordered immediate cash backing for the quarterly payment of outstanding gratuities to pensioners.

He also ordered the release of the promotion letters of letters of promotion of civil servants for the year 2020 and 2021 and the payment of March and April 2023 leave bonuses.

In addition, each community development area and community leaders are directed to submit a list of three roads requiring immediate rehabilitation.
