Ogun Reads Riot Act To Operators Of Public Places On Provision Of Toilets

Ogun state government has read a riot act to operators of restaurants, filling stations and other public places, without toilet facilities for their customers.

Environment commissioner,Ola Oresanya, said that all operators of such places must make provision for toilet facilities.

Oresanya, speaking on a RockCity FM programme:’daybreak show” on Monday, said the facilities of defaulters would be sealed up by the state government.

The commissioner also said the owners of the defaulting facilities would be prosecuted.

He also said that 400 public toilets are to be constructed across the state, under the public-private partnership, as part of moves to eliminate public defecation.

According to the commissioner, twenty five of the public toilets have been completed,with some of them in abeokuta,the state capital.

The commissioner also said the issue of restriction of movement of people and vehicles during the monthly environmental sanitation exercise, was still a subject of debate.

He, however, supports the existing suspension of movement restriction during the exercise, adding that cleansing of the environment should be a daily affairs and not a monthly programme.
