Ogun PDP to Challenge Tribunal Judgment on Its 2023 Governorship Poll Petition

The Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has indicated its readiness to challenge the judgement of the State Governorship Poll Tribunal at the Appeal Court.

The tribunal on Saturday, had dismissed the application filed by the party’s candidate in the last March 18 governorship poll, Honorable Ladi Adebutu, to overturn the result of the poll.

The State PDP Deputy Governorship candidate, Prince Abdulkadir Akinlade, in a statement issued by his media aide, Azeez Adelani, on Sunday, said the process of the appeal had commenced.

He assured the PDP supporters, that the party would get justice at the Appeal Court, adding that they would deploy all resources at their disposal, to correct what he called injustice at the appeal court.

According to him, the tribunal’s judgement was a temporary setback that would soon be over, recalling that the tribunal was a court of first instance, and that the time was on the side of the PDP.

Meanwhile, Ogun State APC has congratulated Governor Dapo Abiodun over his victory in Saturday’s ruling of the Governorship Poll Petitions Tribunal, on the March 18 Governorship Poll in the State.

The tribunal in its marathon judgement, had dismissed the petitions filed by the PDP candidate in the poll, Honorable Ladi Adebutu, saying they lacked merit.

The State Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi in a statement by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Tunde Oladunjoye, said the tribunal’s verdict was a divine mandate.

He described the PDP as a disorganized political party, adding that was why its petition was ramshackle.

According to the party, the tribunal has done justice, and due diligence to what it regards as spurious allegations, made by the PDP candidate.

Sanusi said that APC and the Governor had assembled some of the best brains in the electoral tribunal warfare in Nigeria, to prosecute the case before the tribunal.
