The house impeached the deputy governor after the house majority leader, Sanjo Adedoyin, read the report of the panel set up by the state chief judge to investigate the allegations levelled against him.

An Oyo state high court last Thursday has given the lawmakers a go ahead to proceed with the impeachment of deputy governor Rauf Olaniyan.

Following the court’s order, the state chief judge immediately set up a panel to investigate the allegations tabled against the governor, despite the notice of an appeal against the court’s order.

The impeached deputy on Monday, through his counsel, Chief Afolabi Fashanu, rejected the impeachment, accusing the state chief judge of doing a hatchet job, despite notifying him of the pending litigation.
