Ogun Applies for Approval of Remo Economic Zone as Free Trade Zone

Ogun State Government has requested federal government to approve its application for the operation of the Remo Economic Zone as a Free Trade Zone (FTZ).

Governor Dapo Abiodun spoke on the application while receiving the industries, Trade and Investments Minister, Dr. Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite at the governor’s office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, on Tuesday. (Ultram)

The Governor said the approval of FTZ in Remo axis of the state would enable processing companies who are ready to process their raw material in the axis to begin operation next year.

He told the minister that processed raw material would be exported by the companies.

Already, the Governor said Ogun state has the highest number of proposed industries out of the six special Agro Processing Zones in the country.

The governor also said that his administration has created four economic zones in Ota, as well as at Kajola which would host a dry port, as well as reconstructing Ijebu Ode-Epe Expressway to evacuate people and good from Lagos to the eastern regions.

The minister appreciated efforts of the state government, while acknowledging Ogun state as Nigeria’s industrial capital.

According to her as the industrial capital, Ogun state has distinguished itself as a pioneer and leader in developing, expanding, and attracting industries with ease.

She said the visit would enable her and her team to rub heads with the officials of the state government on how best to be of help to each other.
