Buhari Unveils Dangote Refinery, Products In Market Before End Of July
President Muhammadu Buhari has finally commissioned the $18 billion Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical plant at Lekki axis of Lagos metropolis.
Buhari regards the plant as a game changer for the Nigerian economy.
The products of the plant, including petrol, diesel, aviation jet fuel, dual purpose kerosene and beverage packages.
These are expected to in market between July and end of august this year.
It will also generates 12,000 megawatts of electricity.
The unveiling of the plant on Monday was witnessed by industrialists, some African presidents.
Chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, speaking at the historic event, said thus:
40 percent of the products of the plant would be exported to generate foreign exchange for Nigeria.

He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for being a source of inspiration, whenever he felt like giving up on the refinery project,and the governor of the central bank of nigeria, Godwin Emefiele for assisting with fund.
The Central Bank Governor said that Dangote Refinery has paid 70 percent of the $9 billion it loaned Dangote for the project down to $2.7 billion.
The building of the mega refinery project kicked off in September 2013.
According to Dangote, the project was the realisation of a “clear opportunity” for Nigeria.
He stressed on the African Union’s commitment to the creation of an African common market through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
The refinery is also expected to refine 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day and transforms crude oil into different usage of petroleum products such as diesel, gasoline, jet fuel and kerosene.
