Vandals Disrupt Lagos-Ibadan Rail Service

Some of the rail tracks of the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge railway, have been removed by vandals.

The vandalization of the new rail tracks has been interrupting the Lagos-Ibadan trips on the train service.

Between last Sunday and Monday, the Lagos-Ibadan trips were interrupted four times, due to the vandalized section of the rail tracks.

On Sunday and Monday, travelers on the train were stranded briefly in the middle of forest on the route.

South west regional operations manager of the Nigeria railway corporation, Augustine Arisa, confirmed that the train was forced to stop at different locations, after the driver noticed that some clips have been removed from the rail track.

According to him, with the removal of some of the fastener clips from the track, the train driver had to reverse and move into another track to continue the journey.
