Ogun APC Crisis Deepens, Daniel Accused Of Working For PDP During 2023 Polls

The post 2023 polls crisis in Ogun State APC has further widened,  as the party accused Senator Gbenga Daniel of working for the PDP, during the 2023 presidential and governorship polls in the state.

The APC also accused Daniel of paying billions of naira while he was the state governor, on feasibility studies for bogus projects.

The state APC assistant publicity secretary, Olusola Blessed, leveled the allegation in a statement issued on Monday, to respond to an interview which Daniel granted Thisday newspapers, in its last Saturday edition.

The state APC said Daniel in the interview, stood logic on its head, calling him a serial betrayer.

The party spokesman further accused Daniel of ingratitude to the governor and the APC, while pursuing selfish and myopic interests.

Blessed said governor Dapo Abiodun and the state APC, rescued Daniel at the point of his political oblivion, after the defeat of the PDP in the 2015 pols, during which he served as the director general of the campaign organization of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

The party said Daniel played no role in the massive votes received by Tinubu during the presidential poll in the state, calling him an outsider, who was not a delegate or having any delegate to the APC presidential primaries.

APC also refuted claim by Daniel that he worked for Tinubu’s election as Lagos State governor in 1999, saying Daniel was not in the progressive fold between 1998 and 1999, leading to the formation of the Alliance for Democracy.
