Obi Labour party Okays Petrol Subsidy Removal, Faults Tinubu’s Hasty Decision

Labour party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has okayed the total removal of petrol subsidy by president Bola Tinubu.

He, however, opposed the modality for its withdrawal by the president.

Obi on its twitter handle said he had been in support of subsidy removal since he was serving in the economic management team of the Jonathan administration.

The Labour Party’s candidate regards the petrol subsidy as an organized crimes which privides an avenue for the stealing of Nigeria’s resources.

He, however, explained that the withdrawal ought to have come with measures to cushion its harsh effects.

Using toothpaste analogy, he said to remove a painful tooth, a dentist would apply local anaestetic around the tooth so as not to feel the pain.

He said the modality adopted by Tinubu presidency is likened to forcefully removing of the painful tooth.
