The National Task Group (NTG) on Sanitation has declared Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State as Open Defecation Free.

Ikenne will be the second local government area in the South West region to attain this status.

Mrs. Olufemi Ilori-Oduntan, the Rural Development Commissioner, who made this known, attributed it to Governor Dapo Abiodun for the prompt release of funds for the construction of toilets in over 171 communities and households across the state.

She also mentioned that the funds have assisted in providing water and hygienic facilities in public places.

Additionally, she added that potable water would be provided for proper hygienic practice, enabling more local government areas to attain the Open Defecation Free status.
