Chairman of the Abeokuta North Local Government in the Ogun State Capital, Honorable Ayorinde Adebayo, has been suspended by the Council’s Legislature.

The Councillors placed him on a three month suspension for an alleged misconduct, on Wednesday, during their plenary session.

The notice of the alleged misconduct was supported by ten members of the legislature, from four communities in the local government area.

In the notice, the chairman was accused of secretly selling a 512 acres of land belonging to the council, without remitting the proceeds to the purse of the local government.

They also accused him of failing to carry out repair on the bus used by Councillors in the last 22 months, to perform their oversight functions.

The Councillors also alleged that he failed to submit to the legislature the monthly statement of the income and expenditure of the local government for consideration and debate by the legislature.

Other allegations are routine absenteeism from office,  allocation of zero budget to the office of the leader of the legislature, and failure to provide electricity generators for the legislature.

The Councillors said they had notified the state House of Assembly of the development, and ordered the suspended chairman to hand over to the Deputy Chairman, honorable Ayoola Oluayo.
