Five Killed, One Injured in Fatal Auto Crash on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Tragically, five individuals lost their lives in a fatal auto crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State.

Recorded at approximately 6 am on Sunday at the Ososa junction segment of the expressway, the incident also left one person injured.

According to the state sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anthony Ugah, the collision occurred when an unmarked car collided with a truck.

In a statement issued by the command spokesperson, Chief Route Commander Florence Okpe, Commander Ugah attributed the crash to speed and wrongful overtaking by the driver of the car.

The bodies of those who died had been deposited at the state hospital in Ijebu Ode.

Anthony Uga, Sector Commander of the Federal Roads Safety Corps at the Ogun Sector Command, described the collision as preventable if prudence was used.

Additionally, he recommended that drivers should avoid making sharp turns on the motorway and, instead, utilize an intersection or a designated turning point.

Expressing condolences to the families of the deceased, Uga advised them to contact the FRSC Ijebu-Ode Command for additional information regarding the tragedy.

“The suspected causes of the crash were speed and wrongful overtaking on the part of the Honda car, leading to a side collision with the truck,” Uga stated.

Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of motorists refraining from making quick turns on the expressway and urged them to use the intersection or the proper turning point.

In a show of sympathy towards the families of the victims, he reiterated his advice for them to reach out to the FRSC Ijebu-Ode Command for more information about the crash.
