Federal Government Reviews Contract On Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta Road Rehabilitation.

Federal government says it has not abandoned the ongoing project for the rehabilitation and upgrading of Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta expressway.

It explained that  the stoppage of construction work by contractors, was due to the ongoing review of the contract awarded on the project.

Director of federal highways in federal ministry of works, Adedamola Kuti, in an interview, said federal government is expanding the scope of the contract, following the high level of disrepair of the road.

He explained that the contract was being reviewed, after which contractors would return to site.

According to the director, issues being reviewed in the contract, include cost variation in the additional contract, which would be forwarded to the federal government, for the augmentation of the contract.

Speaking on the Ota-Idiroko section, he said procedures were still ongoing to help Globacom to take over reconstruction of the road project, under the tax credit scheme of the federal government.

He said that special repairs were ongoing on various sections at the Otta end, to make the road motorable pending the planned GLO reconstruction.

Kuti explained that interventions have been done on the first five kilometers around Iganmode grammar school and other sections.
