Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has left the Osogbo Eid prayer ground on Wednesday in anger.

He departed the praying ground abruptly, following the chaotic seating arrangement, which resulted in his designated seat being occupied by an All Progressive Congress (APC) senator.

The APC senator, Ajibola Bashiru on arrival at the praying ground earlier sat on the seat designated for the Governor, and resisted protests from a mob to vacate the seat.

The senator later vacated the seat for another one on the front row, which  the protocol officials still insisted he must vacate.

The governor who arrived the stadium, amidst the confusion, worsened by threats and counter threat by rival hoodlums, refused to disembark from his car.

After some time, the governor departed the praying ground without joining in the prayer, leading to clashes by hoodlums and supporters of APC and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The governor directed the police commissioner to arrest all those involved in the incident regardless of their status.

The state police commissioner later invited Senator Bashir over the incident. The senator, after meeting the police commissioner, accused the governor of using hoodlums to force him out of the seat in the front row in the praying ground.

The APC chieftain, who had been in a war of words with the Adeleke government in recent times, added that, “I did not see any protocol nor advance party of the governor; there was no security personnel where I sat, no indication that where I sat was for the governor.”

“After the prayer, some policemen said the Commissioner of Police wanted to see me and I told them that I will see him together with the Muslim community leaders that I went with in same vehicle.

“I don’t have problem with the governor of Osun State and there were no indications that where I sat was reserved for the governor,” he said.
