Eight Killed in Fatal Auto Crash in Benue

Eight persons died in a head on collision between a passenger car and a saloon car along Katsina-Zaki Biam road in Benue state.

The crash on Wednesday occurred at Ngida axis of the highway.

The state FRSC sector commander, Steve Ayodele, said one of the drivers to avoid a pothole crashed into another incoming vehicle.

The FRSC commander said both vehicles were on top speed, resulting in instant death of four of ten passengers in the two vehicles.

Four others later died in the hospital.

But confirming the accident to journalists in Makurdi on Wednesday, the Sector Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps, Steve Ayodele, said eight people were killed in the crash.

He said, It was a multiple accident involving two vehicles and it was fatal. 10 persons involved – four female adults, one male adult and one female child.

Out of the 10, eight people died. Two persons were injured and were taken to Kastina-Ala General Hospital for medical attention.

It was a head-on collision; one of the vehicles was trying to avoid a pothole and ram into an oncoming vehicle. I guess it was as a result of speeding otherwise they would have been able to manoeuvre their way.
