The Fulani community in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, has called for immediate intervention of the state government in the alleged victimization of Fulani residing in the city and Yewa axis of the state.
According to the community, members of the community are been tagged as either kidnappers or armed bandits, making it difficult for most of them to move freely across the state.
Leader of Fulani community in Abeokuta, Alhaji Unusa Umar, speaking to a Rockcity FM correspondent, Yemi Eniola in Abeokuta, asks the state government to prevail, particularly on residents of Idara and Abule Imeko near Ayetoro, to stop harassing Fulanis in the area.
He warns that continued attacks on Fulanis may lead to reprisal attacks.
The Fulani leader cited the case of a Fulani youth who was tagged a suspected kidnapper at Adara last November 25, and set on fire by residents after beating him to a stupor.
He said the timely arrival of Amotekun corps saved the Fulani youth from being burnt to death.
Reacting to the incident, the state commander of Amotekun corps, retired police commissioner David Akinremi confirmed the incident to Yemi Eniola, adding the partially burnt Fulani youth was rushed to a hospital for treatment.

According to Amotekun corps, the Fulani youth was later taken to the Neuro Psychiatric hospital, ARO, Abeokuta, where he was confirmed mentally unstable.
The Amotekun commander appreciates members of the public for being security conscious, but warned against taking the law into their hands.
Akinremi warned that the corps would deal with mob attacks on suspected criminals, instead of handing them over to the law enforcement agencies.
