DSS Picks up Ogun Lawmaker, Five Others over Sagamu’s Cultists’ Attacks

Operatives of Department of State Service (DSS) have arrested a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, in connection with last weekend cultists’ attacks in Sagamu’s, in which eight persons lost their lives.

The Lawmaker, Damilare Mohammed, was arrested along with five suspected cultists, in a sting operation in Abeokuta, the State capital.

The five suspects are Debo Animasaun; Bamidele Saheed; Ismail Onilere, Adewale Onasanya and Tobi Owoade.

They were arrested by DSS operatives in the official residence of the lawmaker at Kuto, Abeokuta on Wednesday night, in a sting operation.

The State Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Lekan Adeniran in a statement, said DSS tracked the five suspected cultists to the residence of the lawmakers.

According to him, several dangerous arms, including guns were recovered during the raid.

Last February, the lawmaker was also arrested by DSS over the violent protests in Sagamu against the new naira design crisis, in which ten banks were vandalized.

A statement issued by ‘Lekan Adeniran, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Dapo Abiodun, said the DSS had since Wednesday tracked the six suspected cultists to the official residence of the lawmaker, where he was allegedly providing shelter to the cultists.

Adeniran, in the statement, disclosed that the suspects are presently undergoing interrogation in DSS custody after many dangerous weapons, including guns, were recovered from them.
