CAN Urges Tinubu to be Proactive over Plateau Killings

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has urged president Tinubu to be firm on the latest killings in Plateau state.

The association asked the president not to allow any part of the country, including plateau state, becomes ungovernable under his administration.

The northern chapter of the association in a statement by its secretary, Sunday Obe, in a statement issued in Kaduna, said the fresh killings in plateau state was one killing too much.

About 160 people were killed by gunmen who also set fire on 22o houses in fresh attacks in communities between last Saturday till Monday morning.

The can urged Tinubu to act on his directive to troops to track down the terrorists who launch the attacks and not wait until another attack.

The association worried over the type of unpunished killing of people which is gradually becoming an acceptable norm in the country.

We are however hopeful that these killings will not be swept under the carpet as it had been the practice in the past following President Bola Tinubu’s directive to security personnel to fish out the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The President directed security agencies to fish out ‘these envoys of death, pain, and sorrow’ as he described them and bring them to justice.

This directive should not be the usual rhetoric we often hear from government officials when incidents like this happened.

CAN also called on President Tinubu to rise to the occasion and make a difference, adding that it is time to take a decisive stand against murderers.
