Ogun House Of Assembly Passes the State’s 2024 N703 Billion Budget Bill

Ogun State House of Assembly has passed the state’s 2024 appropriation bill of N703 billion.

The passage during the Thursday plenary followed the presentation of the report on the bill by the house committee on finance and appropriation, which was approved by the whole house through the voice vote.

The house reviewed upward recurrent expenditure allocation of industry/investments/ agriculture, forestry, transportation, community development and co-operatives, as well as rural development, culture and tourism ministries.

Others whose budgetary votes were jerked up are the bureau of land and survey, and the state planning and development permit authority.

The house also reduced the projected revenue from N210.2 billion to N198.7 billion, while increasing the projected excess crude revenue from N3.8 billion to N13.8 billion, and capital receipts from N128.3 billion to N136.8 billion.

The speaker, Olakunle Oluomo has directed that a clean copy of the bill be forwarded to Governor Dapo Abiodun for his assent.

The governor had presented the bill, including N6 billion for capital votes and N287.3 billion for recurrent vote to the house for consideration and approval.

The report also indicated an increment in the proposed expenditures under the second schedule for the Office of Auditors General (state and local) and Sustainable Development Goals.

Meanwhile, at the plenary, the Majority Leader of the House, Yusuf Sheriff, moved the motion for the third reading of the bill, seconded by the Minority Leader, Lukman Adeleye, and supported by the whole house through a voice vote.

After taking the third reading, the Speaker of the Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, directed that a clean copy of the appropriation bill be transmitted to the state governor for his assent.
