Adebutu Docked Over Alleged Vote Buying During Ogun March 18 Governorship Poll

Ogun state governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu has been arraigned by federal government for an alleged vote buying in the March 18 governorship poll in the state.

Adebutu was arraigned on a four count charge, before an Abeokuta high court, in absentia, along with nine other persons following a petition filed ny the ogun state APC chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, to the inspector general of police over the alleged vote buying.

Others docked with Adebutu were messers Ogunbona Hammed, Tiamiyu Waliu, Egunsola Owolabi, Sanni Adegoke, Hon. Dare Lukman Ogunleye, Dayo Fasina, Wasiu Enilolobo and Malik Badmus,

At the proceeding on Monday, Adebutu was absent when the case wasmentioned on Monday, while five defendants; Ogunbona Hammed, Tiamiyi Waleed, Egunsola Owolabi, Sanni Adejoke and Malik were present.

They pleaded not guilty to all four counts, and their counsel, Muyiwa Obanewa, requested bail for the defendants.

The prosecuting counsel, Rotimi Jacobs, stated that Ladi Adebutu was still on the run but did not oppose the granting of bail to the other defendants.

Justice Akinyemi subsequently granted bail to the accused in the sum of N100,000 each, with one surety each who must be either bondsmen or relatives of the defendants, providing evidence of payment of tax.

The court adjourned the case until September 26, 2023, for a definite hearing.
