Abiodun applauds Egbas for Political Sophistication

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, has applauded the Egbas for living up to their reputation of political sophistication.

He applauded the division for its consistent and unalloyed support for his administration.

The Governor stated this on Thursday, during the Egba Division town hall meeting for the 2024 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and the proposed 2024 budget, at the Cultural Centre, Kuto Abeokuta.

Abiodun, represented by Deputy Governor Noimot Oyedele-Salako, said the policies and programmes of his administration are in the best interest of many of the people, irrespective of their ethnic, religious or political affiliation or social status.

He said that his administration has been adopting a strategic approach towards the formulation and implementation of policies and programmes, which are geared towards the welfare, wellness and wellbeing of the people.

Okubadejo assured that the Abiodun-led administration will continue to adopt transparency, inclusiveness and bottom-up engagement in the budget process, fiscal discipline, and discouraging extra budgetary expenditure, among others.

The commissioner emphasized that to achieve sustainable economic development and institutionalize public sector reforms and governance in the state, the present administration of Prince Dapo Abiodun enacted the Ogun State Fiscal Responsibility Law 2020, as amended. This law highlights the roles and functions of all stakeholders and outlines expected fiscal activities in the state, significantly aiding the annual budget preparation process.

Furthermore, the Budget and National Planning Commissioner, Olaolu Olambitan, reported the completion of 215 projects in the Egba Division over the last 12 months.

Representing the paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Aremu Gbadebo, the Osile of Oke Ona, Oba Adedapo Tejuosho, expressed gratitude to the governor for consistently involving royal fathers in all programs. He also urged the governor to take proactive steps in repairing the Ota-Abeokuta Expressway.

Among the event’s speakers were the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saka Matemilola, as well as elder statesmen Kunle Adeshina and Chief Joju Fadairo. Mrs. Kikelomo Delano, the Chairman of Ifo Local Government Area, representing local government chairmen, appealed to the state government to address rural roads and enhance infrastructural development in rural schools.
