Abducted Ogun Teacher Regains Freedom after Spending Two Nights in Kidnappers Custody

A secondary school teacher abducted at Alabata axis of Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, has regained his freedom, after spending two nights in the custody of kidnappers.

Adebanjo Adelowo, a senior teacher at the Alabata Community High School, Alabata, near the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) was freed by the kidnappers on Thursday.

Chairman of the Ogun state chapter of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Akeem Lasisi, confirmed this to Rockcity FM on Thursday night.

He said the teacher Jad, had since been reunited with his family in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

The kidnappers, hours after abducting the teachers had been demanding a N50 million ransom to release the abducted teacher.

The abducted teacher who was allowed by his abductors to speak on a phone to his wife on Wednesday, had pleaded that the mobilization of funds to pay the ransom should be fast-tracked.

The TUC chairman could not confirm if the ransom were eventually paid to secure his release.

The news of his freedom came as teachers in Ogun state started mobilizing funds to assist in the payment of the ransom.

The senior teacher was abducted on Tuesday afternoon after closing from the school around 3.30 pm and took some members of staff of the school in his car.

The kidnappers swooped on him shortly after dropping off the staff at Alabata.
