Zenith Bank Tenders Before Tribunal, Adebutu’s Request For 200,000 Pre-Loaded Atm Cards

Zenith Bank PLC has tendered the request of Ogun State PDP governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu for the purchase of 200,000 pre-loaded Automated Teller Machine (ATM) cards before the state elections petitions tribunal.

The bank told the tribunal that each of the ATM cards was pre-loaded with n10,000, totaling N2 billion .

The head of the Bank’s card service, Celestina appeal, who was subpoenaed tendered the letter request letter while testifying in trial of Adebutu over his alleged vote buying during the march 18 governorship poll.

She submitted the certified true copy of Adebutu’s letter to the Bank dated February 27, 2023, requesting to open an account for the purpose of purchasing the ATM cards.

The Bank official tendered another certified true copy of Adebutu’s letter also dated march 27,2023 requesting the issuance of 200,000 ATM cards.

She also tendered a letter of delivery of samples of the cards to Adebutu, as well as the details of statements of the account opened in his name with the bank.

Adebutu’s lead counsel, Goddy Uche, objected to the admission of the documents and the ATM cards, but differed his position to his final address.

The tribunal admitted the items as exhibits and adjourned till today the continuation of the case.
