Vice President Says Military Alone Cannot End Terrorists Attack In North West

Vice president Kashim Shettima says there is no military solution to the ending security challenges in the North West region.

He warns that military solution would only leads to an endless war of attrition in the region.

The Vice President Spoke on the issue in Kano, while speaking to newsmen on the sideline of his visit to the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero on the death of Mallam Imam Galadanchi.

Last week, the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Taoreed Lagbaja, had asked governors in the North West region to give troops a free hand to end armed banditry in the region.

The Army Chief opposed a fresh amnesty for the bandits and terrorists in the region being proposed by former governor Sani Yerima.

But the vice president said only kinetic and non kinetic solution could end the security challenges in the region,which according to him, was being fueled  by poverty and social exclusion.

He said president Tinubu would in the coming weeks will unveil solution to address the grievances and exclusion of Fulbe, as part of measures to end terrorism in the region.
