The visiting United State (US) secretary of state, Anthony Blinkson has asked Nigeria to tackle the issue of corruption and its foreign exchange crisis.

He said that US companies and investors are not coming to Nigeria because of corruption and difficulty of repatriating profits from the country.

Blinkson stated this while addressing the state house correspondents, after a meeting with President Tinubu on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He acknowledges the economic potentials of Nigeria but said its long term challenges must be overcome to unlock the full potentials.

The US secretary state told us companies already in Nigeria wanted to be given a fair and level playing field.

Blinkson, however, said he was aware of efforts by the new Governor of Nigeria’s Central Bank, Oluyemi Cardoso in resolving the challenges of profits repatriation.

He reaffirmed American support for maintaining effective territorial integrity between Gaza and the West Bank.

We’ve been very clear about opposing any formal change to Gaza’s territory configuration, Blinken said.

He indicated the US believes there could be a role for transitional arrangements as Israel draws down military operations in Gaza.

On his part, Nigerian foreign minister Yussuf Tuggar emphasised commonalities between the two countries in supporting a two-state solution.

Tuggar acknowledged Nigeria has been very expressive in criticizing Israeli military actions in Gaza.

It’s not surprising that Nigeria, of course, has been very expressive.
