5 Die in an Auto Crash along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Five persons have lost their lives in a fresh auto crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Eight others sustained injuries in the crash which occurred in the early hours of Monday at 1.58 A.M. at Fidiwo axis of the road in Ogun state.

An unmarked truck speeding had a tire burst and crashed into a Mazda passenger bus marked EKY 582 YE in motion.

Spokesperson of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Chief Route Commander Florence Okpeh said the driver of the truck who was on top speed lost control of the truck and crashed into the bus loaded with passengers.

Also, the state FRSC sector commander, Anthony Ugah, expressed concern over the crash and urged motorists to avoid expired or worn-out tires on their vehicles.

The FRSC spokesperson noted that the accident was caused by a tire burst and loss of control on the part of the truck, which made it crash into the bus.

A total of 15 people were involved in the accident, eight men and seven women.

However, Eight people were injured in the crash while five persons died, she said.

Okpe quoted the state Sector Commander, Anthony Uga, as advising motorists to pay more attention to their tires.

Also, He equally urged motorists to avoid the use of expired tires.
