Tobi Amusan Comes Sixth in the Final of the Women’s 100 Metre Hurdles

Nigeria’s Super Athlete, Tobi Amusan finished sixth in the final of the women’s 100 metre hurdles on Thursday, dimming her hope of medal.

Two other Nigerian Athletes, Favour Ofili and Alaba Akintola lost out in TGE semifinal of their 200m event.

Also lost out in the semifinals of their 200 metres events.

Tobi had a slow start and could not recover.

She ran 12.62 seconds to place sixth in a race won by Jamaica’s Danielle Williams in 12.43 seconds.

Amusan had made her third straight final in the 100 metres hurdler of the world athletics championships on Wednesday to raise Nigeria’s medals hope.

On her way to the final on Wednesday, Amusan came from behind to win in 12.56 seconds.

Amusan was hit with suspension following her charge for whereabouts failures by Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), but was cleared to run on the eve of the competition.

Ace journalist, Toyin Ibitoye wrote, “For all the distractions before the World Championships, making it to the final is as good as a podium finish….better luck next time Tobi Amusan. You are still our World Champion and World Record Holder.”

Femni Adekanye wrote, “I’m so proud of Tobi Amusan, she will come back stronger. If the title isn’t coming to Nigeria, we support the Jamaicans. Congratulations to Danielle Williams, a worthy winner.”

@AbiolaMaylaw added, “It has been a tough season for Tobi Amusan. I hope she comes back bigger and better! All the best Golden Girl.”

Amusan was temporarily suspended by the AIU for missing three whereabouts tests in 12 months and was only cleared to compete two days before the World Champions.
