President Bola Tinubu has approved the sum of N18 billion for the group life assurance benefits and entitlements for the families of members of the armed forces who lost their lives in line of duty.

He says that the policy was for the payment of the families of military personnel who died in active service.

The president announced the policy during the launch of the emblem appeal for the 2023 armed forces remembrance day at the presidential villa, Abuja.

Tinubu explained that the policy was in appreciation of the sacrifices made by the armed forces’ fallen heroes, and to show government’s commitment to their welfare.

According to the president, Nigerians owe debt of gratitude to the gallant troops who lost their lives in protecting the sovereignty of the country.

Also, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Christopher Musa, said that the event signified the concern and appreciation of the Tinubu government for the sacrifice of the Armed Forces.
