Tension at Ago Iwoye as Students Protest Alleged Killing of OOU Graduate at Chips Garage

Tensions have gripped Ago Iwoye in Ogun State, over the alleged killing of a computer engineering graduate of the Olabisi Onbanjo University, Ago Iwoye.

The deceased, Oluwatosin Onadipe, was allegedly hit with an iron rod by one of the officials of Chip Garage in Ago Iwoye, last December 17, while preaching the gospel at the garage.

Last Friday, officials of the student’s union government of the OOU, and some stakeholders staged a peaceful protest at the garage over the death.

The students during the protest shut down the garage.

The students had alleged that a police van took away the body of Onadipe after he was hit with an iron rod at the garage, along with some of the officials of the garage.

The Ebumawe of Ago Iwoye, Oba Abdurazak Adenuga, later told the students in his palace on Friday, that he had ordered the shutdown of the garage for three days ending on Sunday.

The body of the late OOU graduate after it was carried away from the garage was found more than a week later buried by unknown persons, by the side of Ijebu Ijesha road in the town.

Sanitation officials of the Odigbolu Local Government buried the body thinking he was a victim of a hit-and-run driver.

A man who claimed to have witnessed the alleged killing of the late graduate at the ago garage, later revealed to his parents that their son was hit on his head with an iron rod by garage officials.

The state police commissioner, Abiodun Alamutu, had already ordered an investigation into the incident.

Some arrests have also been made by the police over the killing.
