TASUED’s New Tuition Fees Talks Deadlocked, Students Ordered to Vacate Campus

Talks between the management of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, and the students, over the massive increase in tuition fees for the 2023/2024 session, has deadlocked.

Following the breakdown of the talks, hundreds of students on Wednesday morning, resumed protests against the new tuition regime.

The students abandoned their 2022/2023 second semester examination, scheduled to start on Wednesday, to stage protests on the Ijebu-Ode-Ore Expressway.

The crisis started after the university announced N230,000 as tuition fee for fresh students, while raising those of the returning students.

For the fresh students in education programmes, the new tuition fee is N230,000, while returning students will pay N180,000, instead of the present N76,500.

For pure courses, fresh students will pay N240,000, while returning students have their tuition raised from N80,500 to N240,000.

It directs students to vacate the campus immediately, pending the beginning of a new session.
