Six Killed, Six Others Injured in Passenger Bus Crash into Truck in Ogun

A passenger bus has crashed into a truck, leaving six persons dead in Ogun State.

Six other passengers were also injured in the crash, which occurred on Tuesday at car park ‘C’ opposite the Redemption Camp, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The driver of the truck escaped immediately the crash occurred.

Spokesman of the Ogun State Road Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Commander Babatunde Akinbiyi, blamed the ghastly accident on a very high speed by the driver of the passenger bus.

According to the trace commander, the bus marked EPE 440 YG, crashed into a truck which was making a U-turn on the expressway.

Six of the passengers in the bus died on the spot.

He noted that according to an eyewitness, the truck driver was making a U-turn while the bus which was at excessive speed rammed into it.

The TRACE spokesperson added that immediately after the truck driver saw what happened, he ran away.

He stated that 15 people were involved in the accident, saying that six people were injured while six people died.

Akinbiyi explained that the deceased was deposited at Idera Morgue, Sagamu, and Famobis Hospital, Mowe while the injured were taken to RCCG and Famobis hospitals respectively.
