Presidency Approves Recruitment of 200 Doctors and Health Workers for FMC, Idi Aba Abeokuta

The Federal Government has approved the recruitment of 200 medical and clinical staff for the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi Aba, Abeokuta, in the Ogun state capital.

The approval from the office of the head of service of the federation is for the recruitment of 100 medical doctors, 50 nursing officers, and 50 nursing superintendents.

The center’s Medical Director, Professor Adewale Musa-Olomu, received a letter approving the recruitment last November 24.

Spokesman of the hospital, Segun Orisajo confirmed to Rockcity FM the authenticity of the letter from the office of the head of service of their federation.

According to Orisajo, the waiver would help the center to address the acute shortage of medical and other healthcare staff.

He said the medical director of FMC received the approval with a sigh of great relief, as it would mitigate the heavy workload of medical and health workers in the center.

Professor Wale-Olomu appreciated the health minister, for attending to his request.

In the last four years, more than 50 medical consultants, close to 200 resident doctors as well as hundreds of nurses and other health workers have resigned from the hospital, to seek greener pastures abroad.
