Kidnap: Fear Grips Abeokuta Community

Residents of Ifelanwa community, Isale Idi Igba in Oke-Ata axis of Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital, are now living in fear following a raid of the area by gunmen.

The gunmen killed a six year old child and abducted two persons last Friday night during a raid of the community.

The situation is now tense in the community as residents have banned cart pushers from operating in the area.

The Community Development Association (CDA) in the area has also advised residents to stop staying out at late hours of the day.

Residents told Rockcity FM that the gunmen invaded Isale Idi Igba community from Soyoye after 10 pm last Saturday, shooting sporadically, during which they waylaid a resident as he was driving into his house.

In the process, the gunmen abducted a woman, shot at the man who managed to escape from his car, only for the bullet to hit a six year old child who died immediately.

Two other children injured were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba, Abeokuta.

Chairman of the Mango area Community Development Committee (CDC) at Oke Ata, Honourable Adejumo, says the gunmen have been demanding ransom from the families of the two persons in their custody.
