Over 288,000 Applicants applied in the Ongoing Police Constable Recruitment

More than 288 thousand have applied in the ongoing recruitment into the constable cadre of the Nigeria police force.

According to the Police Service Commission, 288,266 persons had applied through the recruitment platform as at Monday night.

The Commission in a statement by its spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, said 217,300 applied for the general duty post, while 70,676 applied for specialist posts.

Further breakdown shows that 69,426 applications were rejected, 46,888 for overage.

It, however, said that only 217,105 of the applicants met the requirements for consideration for the next stage of the recruitment process.

The recruitment portal opened last October 15 is scheduled to close on November 26.

Ani said that 217,300 applicants applied for general duty posts, while 70,676 applied for specialist posts.

He added that 217,105 of the applicants met the basic requirements for the recruitment.

‘The online application requirements include:

i. Applicants shall be of Nigerian origin and birth and must possess the National Identification Number, NIN;

ii. ii. Applicants must possess a minimum of 5 credits in not more than 2 sittings in WAEC/NECO or its equivalent with credit passes in English and Mathematics;

 

 

iii. iii. Applicants must be aged between 18 -25 years; ….vii. Applicants must have a valid email address and phone number and SSCE statements of results or certificates relating to examinations taken before 2015 will not be accepted. The application is without any monetary implications whatsoever and applicants are advised to take note.

‘The Chairman of the Commission, retired Inspector General of Police, Dr Solomon Arase, commended the Nigerian youths for showing greater interest in pursuing a career in the Nigeria Police Force and assured that the commission will ensure that the ongoing recruitment exercise is transparent and merit driven. He called on the youths to continue to visit the recruitment portal to apply for consideration for recruitment,’ Ani noted.

The recruitment of police constables is part of the PSC’s efforts to improve the manpower strength of the Nigeria Police Force.
