Buhari Sends Bill To Legalize Social Investment Programme

President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a bill to the Senate, seeking to legalize the social investment programme and institutionalize the scheme.

The programme, includes the Cash Conditional Transfer, Home Grown School Feeding, N-Power and Government Entrepreneur and Empowerment Programme.

Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, reads Buhari’s request during the Tuesday plenary of the senate.

Buhari in his letter says the bill if passed would provide an enabling law for the effective implementation of the programme to alleviate poverty among vulnerable people in the country.

The president also wants the senate to concur on the National Park Declaration bill.

According to Buhari, the bill makes provision for the establishment of ten new national parks.
