Police to Go After Lesbians, Gays, Bi-Sexual and Transgender Community in Nigeria

Force headquarters is to go after members of the lesbians, transgender, gays and bi-sexual communities in Nigeria.

Fresh move by the police headquarters followed a video on Tik-Tok where three females and five males spoke about their sexual orientations.

Force spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, described the scene as condemnable and unnatural offences.

He said they are criminals and are liable to punishment if convicted.

Adejobi said police are working on the Tik-Tok video clip to take necessary action on it.

An existing law prescribes 14-year jail term for gay relationships, and same sex marriages in Nigeria.

Also, it is a crime to have a meeting of gay people or to operate or attend a gay club, society or organization.

Public show of intimate same-sex affection is also outlawed, while offenders’ risk 10 years in jail.

Meanwhile, Nigerian X users have questioned whether the law is selective.
