Police on Manhunt for Kidnappers Who Abducted Seven Passengers on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Policemen have begun a manhunt for armed kidnappers who abducted seven passengers near Fidiwo Bridge on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

During the attack last Monday, the gunmen also shot a traveler dead and injured another.

Subsequently, the gunmen took those abducted into the forest.

According to the spokesperson of the State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, police responding to the attack had rescued one of those abducted, a 43-year-old Kasali Adegoroye, and united him with his family.

The State Police Commissioner, according to her, had ordered policemen to comb the forests in the axis to rescue six others still in the custody of the gunmen.

She explained that one of those in the vehicles intercepted by the kidnappers said they were 15 in number, wearing military uniforms.

In the past weeks, kidnappers had returned to the Sagamu interchange axis of the expressway, abducting people for ransom.

Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Alamutu Abiodun, ordered a bush-combing exercise into the Bamboo Forest to rescue the kidnapped victims from the incident.

The Deputy Commissioner of Operations (DC OPS) coordinated the operation and was assisted by the Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACPOL) Sagamu.

At about 12:30 hrs today, the police team successfully liberated one of the victims who has been united with his family.

The Commissioner is fully on top of this incident to ensure others are rescued while the CP assures Ogun residents not to panic or exercise any restraint in their traveling plans, Odutola said.
