Osinbajo Asks Public Universities To Diversify Funding Sources

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has asked authorities of Nigeria’s public universities to explore other sources of funding to reduce dependence on government’s funding.

According to him, the future of public university education in Nigeria depends largely on diversified and creative source of funding.

Osinbajo made the suggestion while receiving a delegation from the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, led by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Ayodeji Agboola.

He also suggested that public universities to explore the setting up of endowment, warning that depending on government alone and TETFund for infrastructural development was no longer sustainable.

Professor Agboola thanked the Vice President for his selfless contribution to the growth of the OOU, especially as a pioneer lecturer who set up the university’s faculty of law.
