OSCOHTECH Set To Introduce Traditional Medicine Programme

Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese, (OSCOHTECH) is to introduce a course in traditional medicine.

This followed a memorandum of understanding signed by the Ogun State alternative medicine board with the institution

Meanwhile, The immediate past chairman of the board, Alhaji Nurudeen Plaleye, who made this known in an interview with Rockcity FM, said the initiative would see the college running a programme in traditional medicine.

He said the institution is to work out the modality for qualification of candidates and content of the programme.

Also, Olaleye said the board is working on seven different traditional medicines to provide alternative cure to some ailments.

According to him, three of the drug had been certified, after passing laboratory tests, and are undergoing other tests for their efficacy and other safety issues to meet the global standard.

However, on the Isese day, whose bill was recently passed by the Ogun State house of assembly, Olaleye wants Governor Dapo Abiodun to assent to the bill.

He assured that after the assent of the governor, the Isese day which was being celebrated all over Yoruba land every August 20, would be better organized in Ogun State.

Olaleye also said the alternative medicine board during his tenure, registered seven thousand traditional practitioners, including birth attendants in the state to keep tab on their activities.

According to him, the registration has enabled the board to educate the practitioners on the limits of their practice, and stop indiscriminate arrest of practitioners.
